Youth Leader and session planner - Thorplands (Northampton)

The youth group consists of two clubs – Juniors (6 to 9 year olds) on a Monday evening and Seniors (10 to 16 year olds) on a Wednesday evening.
The youth group has restructured this year and has a three year plan to develop and expand its youth provision. The plans are ambitious and wide ranging. The Youth Leader must fully embrace the plans and understand what is required.
The Youth Leader will be paid £10 per hour for four hours per week. However, due to the work required to implement the three year plan there will be an expectancy to provide additional hours without pay. Any trips or residential courses for the young people will mean additional pay for that activity.
The Youth Leader must have the following credentials:
·         Have the motivation, enthusiasm and commitment to implement an ambitious three year plan and lead by example in doing this.
·         Be able to work closely with the Youth Development Officer and understand the expectations required of staff.
·         Have extensive experience of working with young people in a youth group environment and be able to provide evidence of experience.
·         Preferably be able to offer experience in other areas of youth work or development, such as training, partnership work or advocacy.
·         Be able to plan and deliver sessions and ensure all youth staff understand and can deliver these sessions.
·         Have the vision and organisation to plan sessions up to three month in advance.

Youth and Community Minister

Church on the Heath is an exciting Baptist/Anglican ecumenical initiative which has become a growing vibrant church on Kings Heath, an estate with a large proportion of social housing, on the northwestern edge of Northampton. We are a Christ centred worshipping fellowship, committed to bible-based discipleship, prayer, and pastoral care of one another. We also support active and multifaceted outreach into the community, the main features of which are a thriving youth work and a community shop. Through these ministries we have recently seen local people come to faith.
We are looking for a prayerful, bible-based “people person” or couple to continue and develop a groundbreaking and successful ministry among previously unchurched young people and families in the community. A passion for making disciples of Jesus, resilience, commitment to the local church, and an ability to work in a team are essential.
We can offer a package for a part time post of 20-25 hours per week, which includes accommodation. For further details please contact Revd Andrew Symes
